IWCS, ECA announce cooperation agreement

ARLINGTON, Va., EATONTOWN, N.J., November 27, 2006 – The International Wire and Cable Symposium (IWCS) and the Electronic Components, Assemblies and Materials Association (ECA) have entered into a three-year cooperation agreement that will expand the scope of IWCS to meet evolving industry needs.  The agreement is expected to lead to a formal affiliation between the two organizations.

“The industry we serve has been shifting the focus of its innovation from wire and cable toward interconnect and application technologies,” says John Sicotte, chairman of the IWCS board of directors.  “ECA will help expand our scope to better address all the constituent and collective elements of end-to-end cable systems.”

An expanded relationship with IWCS is part of an overall ECA membership strategy according to the association’s president, Bob Willis.

“ECA has been a strong supporter of IWCS as part of our efforts to serve the diverse needs of our members,” says Willis.  “We have sponsored new programs such as the Executive Forum at the annual IWCS conference.  This agreement takes this support to a new stage, helping IWCS go beyond wire and cable to address systems-level technology and innovation.”
