1.0 Introductions
A round of self-introductions was conducted.

2.0 Committee Organization and Procedures
2.1 Membership and Attendance
The membership list was reviewed and adjusted to read as reflected in the following table. A quorum was present. Cooper Bussman, Taiyo Yuden, and AEM were added as active Committee Member Organizations.

2.2 Approval of Agenda
An additional item was added to the proposed agenda under 2.8 New Business Chairman replacement. The Committee unanimously accepted the Agenda as adjusted.

2.3 Approval of April 2001 San Antonio, TX Meeting Minutes
It was noted that Len Metzger was double listed on the previous set of minutes, and was to appear on those minutes as falling under the "others present" category. The minutes were approved as adjusted.

2.4 Correspondence
No correspondence to the committee since the last meeting.

2.5 Review of the Committee's Scope
Chairman Greenidge introduced a proposal for modification to the committee scope. The purpose is to relate the PDP-100 document to the ECA website concepts related to the 'Wherehouse'. An interested customer would typically go to the website and discover who has a particular product that conforms to a component outline listed in the ECA PDP-100 document.

The Committee Scope Statement was modified to read:
"Provide standardization using format outlined in PDP-100, administration, and circulation of mechanical outline drawings of electronic parts provided by industry participants."

The Chair produced the first document to appear on the website. It needs to be posted.

Discussion pursued. It appears that at this point in time, documents would be posted in .pdf format. Users typically look for components that satisfy electrical performance requirements first, and then for mechanicals. Height above the board is frequently a critical variable that becomes a problem. Often an OEM will have to produce a company drawing on a component. If they could refer to a PDP-100 outline it would save considerable amount of internal documentation. Contract manufacturers today are playing a major part in the design-to-production process and this type of documentation would be helpful between OEM and contract manufacturer. The committee generally agreed that a future feature would be to also have CAD drawing capabilities along with the .pdf formatted drawings.

Discussion pursued concerning the PDP-100 document and how to modify it to address the latest concepts. The drawing codes no longer would require a position to indicate Registered drawing /Standard Drawing. This would then be used to indicate what commodity product the drawing is representing (e.g., R=Resistor, C=Capacitor). Also discussion of what the terminology to be used in the document took place. For example, what is now referred to as an M-3216 reflects the metric package size. Industry, however, commonly refers to this package by the inch-pound size; 1206. To maximize utility of the drawings, and to minimize confusion, it was felt that the 1206 package should be referenced as a 1206.

Carl Lindquist will supply the first set of drawings that will include a series of fuses. He will supply these for the next meeting.

Chair Greenidge needs the introduction of PDP-100 electronically for his task to modify the introduction and the coding structure.

2.6 Complete balloting on SOCM-3216
It was unanimously agreed to table this item until PDP-100 is reformatted.

2.7 New Business
Chairman Caddy Greenidge announced that he was stepping down as Chair of the P-4 Committee and that a new Chairman would need to be selected. Brian Piscatelli was nominated and unanimously voted to the position by the committee. The committee then unanimously confirmed Diane Bicknese as Vice-Chair.

The committee agreed with staff that PDP-100 would not go to reprint since the anticipated revision will be actively reworked over the next year.

3.0 Next Meeting
The next meeting will be at the 4th ECA Engineering Summit the week of 14 April 2002 in Albuquerque, NM at the Sheraton Old Town Hotel.

4.0 Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 15:39PM.

This meeting was conducted in accordance with the EIA Legal Guidelines and the Manual of Organization and Procedures.
