Committee Scope : Products within the jurisdiction of the committee are all tricolor cathode ray tubes for television, video games, monitors, computer terminals, and other data display applications. The committee has the responsibility for the Worldwide Type Designation System (WTDS) for Television Picture Tubes and Monitor tubes. Changes in the system that affect monochrome tubes will be coordinated with the JT-20 committee. Changes in the system that affect phosphor designations will be coordinated with the JT-31Committee. Functions of the JT-6 Committee will include:

  • establishment of criteria and data requirements for CRT registration;preparation of registration guidelines and formats;
  • development of recommended methods of measurement and rating of mechanical and electrical characteristics of bulbs and tubes;
  • maintenance of publications assigned to this committee;
  • development of standards for components used in conjunction with cathode-ray tubes.
